Retrospection

On Saturday, August 17, 2013, I left my home country, Ghana, for the first time to come study here in the U.S. I was filled with excitement for my new life, anxiety (given the level of expectation from family, friends and stakeholders in my education) and a certain fear for what the future held. Fast forward to today, I am filled with a caution excitement, gratitude for the privilege of a rigorous liberal arts education and a somewhat confident outlook on the bright future ahead. On May 22, 2017, I graduated Grinnell College with a Bachelors of Arts in Computer Science and Statistics. I am incredibly thankful for all the support and love of my family, professors, host family, friends and loved ones. While I am wary of the invariably numerous challenges that lay ahead, I am committed to giving my best and I am certainly looking forward to all the learning opportunities ahead.

So, what's next?

I was fortunate to receive multiple full time offers as a Software Engineer in some amazing companies! Two academic research stints, Grinnell AppDev, three amazing tech internships later, I am happy to announce that I will working as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon in Seattle with the audiobook and podcasting division, Audible. I am thrilled about this opportunity and I looking forward to learning and contributing to the division's goal of unleashing the power of the spoken word and transforming the future of listening!

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that contributed to how far I have come! I wouldn't be here without the incredible mentors and friends I have made over time; the experiences I shared with them and the lessons learned are deeply ingrained in my life's fibre and I look forward to being the best I can be to make you all proud!
